SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES

At Chan Neill Solicitors LLP, we prioritise social responsibility as a core value. We believe that utilising our talents and resources to support others and the communities we serve is integral to our mission and identity.

Chan Neill Solicitors LLP firmly believes in the transformative power of pro bono work. It not only allows our solicitors to broaden their legal expertise but also enables them to make a meaningful contribution to society. We are dedicated to providing pro bono legal advice, particularly in human rights and charity law areas. We have previously seconded one of our solicitors to a pioneering social enterprise led by the Rt. Hon Lord Wei of Shoreditch.

Michael Chan, Managing Partner at Chan Neill, actively leads the firm’s engagement in charitable endeavours and strives to elevate the prominence of Chinese culture and connections within the United Kingdom. During his time as President of the Chinatown Lions Club, Michael chaired and contributed to the establishment of the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office. This festival has since become a significant annual event in the British Chinese community calendar, raising funds for various charitable causes. Additionally, Michael has been honored with the Mervyn Jones Award, which recognises Lions with exemplary contributions.

One of our senior consultant solicitors, Andrew Neill, is heavily involved as a trustee of Love in Action, a charity that builds and operates primary and secondary schools while also raising sponsorship for school fees and food for children in Uganda. He dedicates his summer vacations to visiting and assisting at the school. Donations from Chan Neill Solicitors LLP have played a pivotal role in covering the financial running costs of the various projects, as well as providing mosquito nets to all the children. Recently, we participated in The London Legal Walk, an event dedicated to ensuring access to justice for all members of our community. By joining this walk, we contributed to supporting legal aid services and promoting fairness and equality within the legal system. Additionally, we have organised Macmillan coffee mornings to help those affected by cancer. During this event, the staff showcased their baking talents by providing a delightful selection of baked goods, cookies, pastries and a variety of beverages. The funds raised from this event will provide vital support services to individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer. These achievements exemplify our firm’s unwavering commitment to making a positive impact and fostering a more compassionate and inclusive society.

Several of our associates also volunteer regularly with charitable causes both locally and in their home countries, from befriending the elderly to promoting children’s literacy.
