SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES

It is very important to us at Chan Neill Solicitors LLP that our people use their talents and resources to help others and to support the communities in which we represent, live and make our living.

As a firm, our activities include pro bono work for our solicitors that not only allow them to get involved in areas of law which gives them a different perspective but also the opportunity to make a good social impact.  At Chan Neill Solicitors LLP, we regularly give legal advice on a pro-bono basis.  Chan Neill Solicitors LLP helps, on a pro-bono basis, human rights and charity law-related cases, and has previously seconded one of our solicitors to a start-up social enterprise headed by the Rt. Hon Lord Wei of Shoreditch.

Through Michael Chan, Senior Partner at Chan Neill, the firm makes time for charitable causes and strives to make Chinese culture and links in the United Kingdom more prominent. Michael chaired and helped to set up the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in his year as President of Chinatown Lions Club, and with the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in 2007 and 2008 respectively.  This festival is now a major annual event in the British Chinese community calendar and funds raised go to many needy causes. Michael is also a recipient for the Mervyn Jones Award which recognizes Lions with exemplary contributions.

Andrew Neill, Andrew is also a volunteer money coach with the charity Christians Against Poverty, which helps individuals and families deal with personal debt and budgeting issues. Managing Partner at Chan Neill, is a Trustee of Love in Action. This is a charity working in Uganda. Amongst other projects the charity built and runs a primary and secondary school and raises sponsorship for school fees and food for the children.  Andrew is heavily involved as being a trustee he spends his summer vacations visiting and helping out at the school.  Donations from Chan Neill have been key to the financial running costs of the various projects as well as providing mosquito nets recently to all the children.  For more details please visit www.loveuganda.com.

Several of our associates also volunteer regularly with charitable causes both locally and in their home countries, from befriending the elderly to promoting children’s literacy.
