In the Private Client Department, we help you look after your personal affairs to ensure that, as far as possible, all is in order for those dearest to you.
Any of us could loose our mental capacity at any time. Whilst it is often associated with Alzheimer’s disease, it can also happen when, for example, we are seriously ill or after an accident. Chan Neill can prepare a Lasting Power of Attorney to ensure that those you would wish to have the necessary authority to take decisions and sign important legal documents on your behalf without going to the Office of the Public Guardian can do so. This is particularly important if you are unmarried or for some other reason you do not feel that your legal next-of-kin are the ones who should take such decisions when you are unable to do so.
We can also assist in the preparation of Wills and Trusts as well as consideration of any Tax Issues. Most importantly, no matter how great or how small your assets, we can help you ensure that after your death they are dealt with in accordance with your wishes. Our language skills make us well placed to deal with cross border estates.
We have experience in assisting clients who have had to make disclosure of off-shore assets, something which is likely to become increasingly important, in view of HMRC’s determination to ensure that all such assets are brought within the UK tax system.
Our Private Client service broadly covers:
Lasting Powers of Attorney for Health & Welfare and Property & Financial Affairs
Wills and Estate Planning
Probate and Letters of Administration
Assistance with Overseas Legal Affairs
